Environment

Urbincasa and the environment.

Urbincasa has been committed to Sustainable Development which term, although coined in 1987 in the famous Brutland Report, faithfully describes our vocation for real estate development in an organised, moderate manner, integrated harmoniously into the landscape and respectful of the area’s water and energy resources.
At Urbincasa we have developed an Environment Quality System, to which we adhere in all our actions, thereby ensuring absolute respect for the environs and in strict compliance with the environmental laws applicable in each activity.
Thanks to this system we are committed to:

  • The efficient use of natural resources.
  • The use of biodegradable and recyclable materials.
  • The existence of Environmental Committees for all our projects.
  • Integral waste management.
  • The implementation of training and information workshops on environmental awareness.

We would also point to some initiatives, such as:

  • The creation of a Fund for Innovation in Sustainable Development
  • The establishment in 2007 together with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) of the Eco-Innovation and the Development of Sustainable Business Activities Prize.
  • Adhesion to the Protocol of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia on fostering environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Sponsorship of activities to disseminate the varieties and uses in urban development of the indigenous flora of the Region of Murcia.
  • Writing of the book Environmental Management in Construction Projects.

The endeavours of Urbincasa in this field were acknowledged in 2010 with the Prize for Sustainable Development in the Region of Murcia, awarded to the company by the Regional Ministry of the Environment and Water, and the Sustainable Chain Prize, awarded by the national daily newspaper, El Mundo, The Companies Institute and The Cemex Foundation.
